St. Hugo signs with Ordo for their 4th consecutive year

St. Hugo Catholic School, one of the best Catholic schools in Michigan, faced a challenge after COVID-19 when they had to shut down their lunch program. Post-lockdowns, they reopened the program and had to search for a new meal service vendor. St. Hugo was deeply committed to their community and didn't want to partner with just any company. They needed a program that would provide high-quality meals while being affordable for every student.

Before the pandemic, St Hugo’s staff was stuck managing a lot of logistics. Payments were impossible to manage, whether it was chasing parents to place their orders on time every week or keeping track of who paid and who hadn’t yet. They also had to manage their food vendor and deal with fluctuating staffing and their associated delays constantly. Now, with a chance to start fresh, they wanted something different.

St. Hugo decided to partner with Ordo after having met the founders personally and built a relationship with them. They became Ordo’s first school partner, and the company was dedicated to raising the bar for quality in their lunch program.

Ordo appointed Chef Jimmy, an executive chef with over 20 years of experience and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, to run the program. As a veteran in the field with a decade of experience working in schools, Jimmy ensured that the meals were not only delicious but also met the highest standards of quality.

St. Hugo also had a sizable gluten-free community in their student population. Ordo accommodated them by adding several gluten-free options to the menu. Surprisingly, they were so well-received and popular that Ordo later added the gluten-free options to their menus nationwide.

Ordo even partnered with a beloved local pizzeria that St. Hugo families traditionally went to after school events, to create a pizza day for the school. This initiative drove participation rates in the lunch program and boosted satisfaction across the community. With Ordo, families felt that their input was valued and heard.

When it came time to review vendors for the following year, the parents at St. Hugo strongly advocated for keeping Ordo. The partnership not only met but exceeded the school's expectations, providing high-quality, affordable meals that catered to the needs of their community. In a survey conducted at the end of the 2023-2024 school year, St. Hugo students rated their experience with Ordo’s platform 4.3 out of 5.

In 2024, St. Hugo signed on for their 4th consecutive year with Ordo.
